Similar story. There was a 1998 Ficht 150HP being sold locally for $2000. Yeap one of those bad years to avoid.

The funny part was that the engine was entirely burnt up. As in all the wiring, computer, all plastic parts were burnt. Lower leg was mostly alright half way down but it is possible that melted plastic may have entered the bottom parts. It wasn't a typo, I asked. He wouldn't budge either. I'd have given him $200-$300 for what was left just in case I need any parts. But he got upset when I offered that. Oh well.

For the record, I'm an owner of a 2001 Ficht motor and I have nothing but good things to say about it. But pre-2000 Fichts are only good for parts in my opinion unless all recalls and updates were made as per service bulletins.
