I have a 1991 40 hp when I push in the choke I have voltage at the solenoid but do not hear a click when key is pushed in , does that point to a bad solenoid???

I suppose you realize it is a primer and not a choke, right? I suppose they do make some sort of a click, but to be honest, I don't think I've ever noticed. If it is in auto position and works, that is all that is required.

Yes I know its a primer, but not sure if it is working I do have power when key is pushed, the motor won't start cold unless you move the red lever and hear it release, I just got this unit so I am not sure where it should be for auto postion.thanks FM
