Still working on my idle issues and still believe there is an issue with the carbs but wanted to go through some basic tuning. Bought a service manual to help me troubleshoot from square one. I reset all the carb linkages by the book and it certainly helped. But then I went to set the low speed timing to 3° ±1°. It was way off to start at about 12°. As I backed the idle screw off, it came off the stop and would not go any further by itself. I could push on it until the idle screw seated (I didn't force). The only way I could get the timing down to 3° was to push it down on the stop, otherwise it rest about a 1/4" off the stop at about 8°.

I didn't pull the flywheel off yet, but was wondering if there is anything else to consider. Any advice appreciated.
