This motor has always run like a charm. Recently when I was out I lost high range (speed) at full throttle I get about 1/4 of the power I should be getting. The motor is in mint condition and regular maintenance is done on it. Can anyone, or has anyone had this problem or might have an idea on why it won't run at high range.
Thanks,
Quay62

If its not overheating, you may have dropped a cylinder. Could be due to spark, or crud in the high speed jet causing it to lean out (hard on that cylinder).
1. Check for overheating
2. Start unplugging spark plugs one at a time and isolate which cylinder if any is not doing anything.
3. Once you isolate the bad cylinder check the spark. If you have good spark, you probably need a carb rebuild. Pay particular attention to the high speed jet.

Check to make sure your max. spark advance linkage did not fall out of the keeper on the timer base.
Had this happen when a flywheel magnet broke loose and knocked the linkage out.
