Did a search first, like I'm supposed to..... ;)

http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=17;t=005023

Found some good info but can't figure out what it means. I need a company name or a phone number. Also, any tips on sanding, priming, ect. And will the same paint work on cowling? It may be a different shade. It's an 85 120 hp Evinrude, model EL120TLCO, serial # G10250087.

Thanks in advance :D

PS Touch up time, cause first ride of the season last week went...........swell :p

Call around to the marinas in your area. One of them should have OMC touchup paints made by OMC. The cans will list the years that particular color was used. I used the Silver Blue on my cowl and it matched up pretty good.

OMC paints that year and most years have been lacquer. Tempo Products is a good source and I think is carried by West Marine and many other stores. Go to their website and download the catalog to see if they have the right color for your motor. The motor covers are almost always the same color as the lower parts for all OMC motors, but the covers get faded bc they catch more sun. Surface prep is same as for any lacquer finish. Sand, wipe clean and spray. If down to bare metal, use chromate primer first, as available from Tempo. Unless the cover is really bad, I wouldn't bother bc the decals are a pain to replace. The finish is the same for the whole motor. Have fun.

http://www.tempoproducts.com/
