1995/ 225/ Johnson ocean runners. regular service by mechanic, water pumps thermostats, new lower unit seals. ? ..After running motors I have a sticky gunk stuff at exhaust seam between upper and lower unit. Is this normal after a service.? Ran her twice over the weekend 35 mi out and back. I never saw this before on the motors. Seems to be running a little hot at 3500 rpm's-190-200*. My mech after 2,500 bucks says this is normal for a spell. 550hrs on each.

Nope. Way too hot too.
If they had the lower off, then they might not have installed the seal and/or the exhaust extension tube that funnels exhaust from the upper to the lower in the proper spot.
Don't know why it would be hot, other than they eff'ed up the water pump installation.

Thanks Daselbee. Wanted a second opinion besides my own when I go and tell this Mech to redo the job!
