RICK LOOK power trim on 87 50hp johnson what is the single wire?

if im facing the back of the boat and look at the to rams ,one on outside left the other outside right The right one has the trim pump hooked on it ,but the left side has one wire that goes to the outside of the ram with a nut ,what is this wire and where does it go?

Probably a trim indicator switch wire which would hook to a trim gauge if you had one. Look to see if there is a little "Lever" under the tube that moves back and forth.

yes there is i do not have a trim gauge but want to put one in ,so all i do is hook this one wire to the gauge ? is this wire hot ? how does the gauge get power
