Does your pontoon already have a steering set-up and remote controls on it now?

Yes you can convert it to console steering. You will need a remote kit from I.boats or another omc supplier or your local Evinrude/Johnson dealer can order, approx $90.00 If you have a model no J40teeds, there is not kit for that motor, that's is the problem I am having now. I even talked to the Evinrude/Johnson factory today and they comfirmed that. Good luck with your conversion.
Now I don't know if your shift box will work with that motor or not, you may have to change the shifter also.

I have a stick steer 1995 Johnson 40 hp and I want to change it to a tiller. If you want to sell your tiller after taking it off please email me at jayc3003@yahoo.com
