Bought a used boat and took it out for a weekend and ran fine. Now it will not stay started. At one time I turned it on, it stayed on for about 5 minutes then beeps and then shuts off. I had changed the fuel tank and primer bulb, but the bulb does not stay hard. I had even changed the fuel filter and cleaned the carburator's. The engine does turn over but will not start.. Please HELP...

Joe, sounds like fuel starvation, you were on the right track. Does it keep running by pumping buld while running? If yes, definitely fuel stavation. Then it's just eliminating possibilities. Check all connections ... any air leak into the fuel system will cause the symptom you describe. Also check fuel pickup in tank and fuel filter under the hood for debris and junk ... a very common cause of fuel starvation. On of the last and least likely causes is a failed fuel pump.<br />Jim
