I have been reading about AMSOIL 2-cycle oil.
It is supposed to provide proper lubrication for
all air and water-cooled 2-cycle motors.
There are two types of oil(50:1 and 100:1).
Even though the recommended mix is 24:1 will these
new synthetics work properly with my motor?

IA rookie
On this old engine 24/1 is where you want to be and Johnson/Evinrude, Mercury, Yamaha oil will do great. If you can buy AMSOIL cheaper then that, that's your call. Performance on this engine is smooth, slow trolling in proper tune.
Backfire ;)

Thanks for the quick response.
Since this is my first boat and motor I appreciate your advice.
That said, I will use the 24:1 mix and hope to
have hours of enjoyment with my "new" 1957 Crestliner 14' semi-v with this 1957 Johnson
motor mounted on it.
Thanks again.
