Removed the lanyard kill switch on OMC control box

(very stupid) and could not get it back in. Took a hammer to it with predicable results. I can get a new insert key at Walmart, but there must be some neat trick to simply slide that keeper key over the kill switch button. HELP!-First boat, and sick of it already. Engine won't fire, (1992 Johnson 9.9 2 stroke) even before I broke the lanyard key.

you could replace the entire switch (really simple only two wires with clips) with a new one, or like I did and just put in any type of switch that's rated for that power. You could also just skip the whole process and tie the wires together and just not have the kill switch. This might not be allowed depending on where you are

If you tie the 2 wires together on the kill switch it will never start.----The circuit must be " open " for the motor to run !!!
