1970 Evinrude Sportster 25Hp

Starting trouble!Starts and runs for a few minutes then quits!I am new to outboards so I may not be doing something right.I have followed the starting instructions on the motor. Fuel is new.

Sounds like your tank isn't venting, fx. Check the cap to see if the vent is open before you start her up. If you have doubts, loosen the cap. Another possibility is a weak fuel pump. When she tries to die, pump your ball pump. If she picks right up you may have a restriction somewhere in your fuel feed system, but most likely you need to overhaul the fuel pump.<br />Good luck.<br />JB
