Re: Johnson/ evinrude Jet drive lowers?

Hi Dave, A jet drive uses an internal impeller to draw water into a thrusting chamber, where it is forced out at a high velocity to propel the boat. These units have advantages, boating in shallow areas, lower unit not as deep to hit something. There are also some disadvantages, the jet drive is not as quick to respond to increased throttle speeds and the top end will not be as high as a propeller lower. They usually use more fuel to go the same distance as a propeller lower unit.
