IB is '69 155 HP Buick.
Boat is 16' TriHull
Model is Sea sport 155 & trailer.

Motor runs fine. OB runs fine. But, motor is not able to transmit full power to the prop, so when engine is engaged boat will move at very slow speed even though the RPMs are at 4000. The same is true in reverse. The motor will engage and the boat will move in reverse, but again only at a very slow speed.

Everything ran perfectly up to this point. I heard no grinding or gear noises and the as I said earlier, the engine runs quietly and smoothly. I think the problem lies between the engine and the OB, but am uncertain as to how to proceed on the fix. any help would be appreciated

Sounds as though the hub on the prop is spun. Start by trying a different/new prop and see what happens.

You were absolutely correct and you saved me a fortune, since my mechanic was going to really tear into the outdrive. Thanks for helping me out so quickly.
