I just picked up a 78 25hp electric start Johnson that is a remote control. Is it difficult to convert this motor to a tiller motor?

Thanks for any assistance...

Re: 1978 Johnson 25hp RC Converting to Tiller Arm Question

According to the parts list I'm looking at, it does not have a special steering bracket on the electric model. Assuming that is correct, there should be two "ears" on the bracket where a tiller would mount. Simple piece of cake to do it. All you need to do is look at the parts diagram and obtain the stuff you are missing.

On the other hand, if by chance you don't have those two ears, you will have to change the steering bracket. More work and expense.

Thanks for the info and fast reply. I am hoping you are correct and it's not a big deal. I will post some pics of the motor this afternoon. Thanks Again, Gary
