Hello Scooter here in Kansas City, recently purchased this little Johnson and fired it up, it started up 2nd pull but would not idle down, pulled carb and broke it down, soaked in mineral spirits then rebuilt it with all new omc parts, then reinstalled along with new fuel pump kit in order to add external tank. installed new champion j4c plugs. fired it back up and seems to idle better but here is my questions.
when running in tank the 8 water discharge holes appear to be working, however the left holes spit clean water while the right 4 holes spit a bit but seem to discharge a sort of oil gunk instead of just water. is this just unburnt gas/oil or something else? I do have in hand, new condensers, coils, points, head gasket, exhaust gasket, impeller etc... just haven't installed yet.
also popped cover off and inspected impeller, which looked ok so I put back together as I was not sure how to get all the spring pin crap off of the lower short shaft. help here would also be appreciated.
