A reverse diagnosis question.

The boat has been running fine. Went out this morning and it didn't want to idle below 1100 rpm. It would slowly loose rpm over a course of 10-15 seconds or so. Bump the throttle and it would recover, then 10-15 seconds later start to loose rpm again. If you let it get below 800-900 rpm, it could continue to drop,no response to throttle bump, then stall @ 600 rpm.

Trolled all day at 1100 rpm, never missed a beat at that rpm. Try to drop the throttle down to 1000 rpm and it's would start losing rpm and ultimately stall if you didn't bump it back over 1100.
Got back to the dock and found that the cam follower (rubber bumper) had split in half and fell off the shaft. I'm hoping the missing / damaged part would this would explain this behavior. Otherwise, I'm back to the drawing board with only 2 days til a big tournament. Any help would be appreciated

Sorry I can't help you with diagnosis, but.. My motor lost the cam follower, if that's the plastic bushing on a post where the throttle plate rotates. I wrapped some electrical tape around the post to a similar diameter, hokey as it sounds, my motor ran perfect last year. Hope i didn't just curse myself.

Please post if you find a replacement follower, i couldn't find one, good luck
