1978 35hp evinrude will not kill with switch

I have to choke it to shut it down, it has a black plug. does anyone know which wire to ignition is the kill and the color of the wire that goes under the flywheel. to kill? any help will be greatly appreciated. I have looked at diagrams and cannot figure it out. thanks guys

can you tell me the colors coming from the harmess. I had the same black plug but lost my notes. I do believe there are 2 black wires.

Look at the wire harness going to the power pack, there should be a black/yellow wire, that is the kill wire for the ignition system. If the engine will not shut down with the key you most likely have an open in that wire somewhere between the switch and the power pack.
