Hey everyone... I've had this beat up beauty I'm my garage for a few months and I'm finally getting around to working on it.

The previous owner said it ran a few years ago but last time he had it out, the throttle stuck open and he pulled the fuel line to stop the motor. He didn't touch it after that.

The rope pulls and turns the motor so I know it's not seized. The repair manual is in the mail but I went ahead and fixed the tiller handle with JB Weld. I can see that the carb intake screen is missing... probably not a deal breaker but I will get a new one. The cowling and body are pretty rough but that's just paint.

Where should I start?

Pull the flywheel and inspect ignition coils.----If cracked then you need replacements.----Check oil in lower unit.----Remove lower unit for water pump inspection / replacement.-----Test compression as well.-----Do not spend $$ for parts untill you have done a good inspection of the motor.

When I get a new to me motor I do a F-A-C-T-S CHECK Fuel,,,Air,,,Compression,,,Timing,,,Spark and proceed from the results of the check. and if things look like your moving forward first purchase should be your motors manual, or a trip to your local library to check one out. best of luck & keep us posted on your adventure.
