1974 85HP Johnson Shift rod disconnect.

I am about to pull the lower unit for service. The shift rod disconnect is not apparent. My manual does not show this model lower unit. Can anyone tell me where the disconnect is.

It is behind the lower carburetor.-----Need a 5/8" wrench to take out one bolt.----Seperate those 2 arms you find there.

I disconnected the shift cables and had much more room.

Make sure you don't lose the little nylon bushing in the upper shift rod connector as they are NLA.
