Need help with a 1990s 15 hp evinrude

It won't idle but it will run top speed all day no problem as soon as it goes to low speed it will die if I don't play with the choke. The carburator is clean I don't know what else it could be I need help please.

Sounds like you need to go through the carb again with a fine tooth comb. Will it run if you pump the primer bulb ??

welcome to iboats 03! sounds like your "clean" carb might not be as clean as it appears. a model # is a must for best advice also. have you read leeroys ramblings? some excellent info there.

Model number required !!-------2 stroke or 4 stroke ?------Having to use the choke indicates that you need to look at fuel issues or carburetor adjustments.-----Have you done a compression test ?

It's a 2 stroke I haven't done a compression test yet how much psi do I want to see?
If I squeeze the ball it seems like it idles a little longer but eventually still dies.
I was thinking it might be out of time at idle could that be a possibility?
