Hello,

On my Johnson 250 '94 I used to be able to move the prop shaft a bit in and out (possibly 1-1,5 mm or so) but now after I have resealed the prop shaft housing and re-mounted it I seem not to be able to do so any more. Have I tightened the housing to much or is that not possible? Is it normal not to be able to move the prop shaft a bit in and out? I have the housing with 2 retainers.

thx for help.

Shift rod adjustment???? See if you have movement in another gear.

Whack the end of the prop shaft once with a block of wood and a hammer and see what happens.

boobie: I did as you said and now I have approx. just short of 1 mm shaft play (I guess). how much should I have, or is this enough?

would you be willing to explain how this one wack can give me more shaft play?

thx F_R - thanks for input - I tried the wack as suggested by boobie - and that seemed to work.

Maybe it put the front bearing housing home.

All the whack does is seat everything in the gear case. You should be fine now.
