I have an 75 Evinrude 85hp outboard with a key switch that is going bad. Have to play with the key a lot to get it to work consistently, if ever.

I hate opening control boxes unless I can find direct replacements. Any suggestions?

No 85 HP listed for the 1985 model year.-----Let's start with a model # or picture of your control box !!

Fairly simple to open up the control box and to install a modern switch with push to choke built in.-----1975 model is your motor.

Factory original switch, with original part number: 386947. Still a stock item. See your Evinrude dealer. Your original switch does not have the push-to-choke feature-that's on the lever switch just below the key. You can look up all your own parts from the online factory exploded parts diagrams: epc.brp.com
