I have a 2000 175 hp Johnson, 25" shaft V6, 60 degree motor. The book I have calls for s shift rod height setting that is way too long for this motor ( I run out of rod before getting the stated height). Does anybody have the correct shift rod setting for this engine mod. # J175VXSSS?

Thanks,
Dennis

I have the spec for a '98 Johnny 175HPV6 60* motor. The shift rod height for a 25" model is 26 1/4" +/1 1/32"

Thanks Chris. That is the same setting the book I have gives, but it's way too much for this one. My rod is too short. OMG did I just write that?

Well, if your (shift) rod is not up to the correct length, you have a problem. Maybe you have a shorter shaft? There is a spec for a 175EX/NX motor which is 26 1/4 inch. Does that work?

175 FT shaft spec is 21 3/4".
