1988 Johnson 175 VRO V6 Warning Alarm

I started up the boat a couple days ago and, after it ran for approximately 5 minutes (Out of water but with hose/rabbit ears attached), a constant, screeching alarm began to sound from the throttle control area.

I recently had a new impeller put in, the gear oil changed and a carb rebuild performed. I thought that it may have something to do with the VRO or possibly the oil tank as I noticed that, prior to starting the engine, the bulb primer for the oil line was rock hard. Any ideas on what the alarm is telling me?

It's not really a beep but more of a SCREEEEEEECH. It's a constant sound (Not intermittent or cyclical).

You either have a bad temp sender or a grounded out tan wire someplace. Disconnect the tan wire from the horn and see what happens.

Weeeeeeellll, I was able to use the bulb primer on the oil line and it seems like it did the trick Ran her for about 10 minutes and didn't get that god-awful screech. Gonna go ahead and run her on one of the local lakes and see what happens. The hard part is going to be in convincing my wife that I need to fish for 6-8 hours while I'm "checking out the boat."

Thanks for the help everybody, I appreciate it!!

Run pre mix in the tank until vro oil usage is confirmed.
