72 Johnson 65 hp helm broke. need replacement?

Looking to see if anyone know the type of helm needed for a 72 Johnson 65 hp. has one cable to the outboard. the threaded stub on it broke and it's not working. I've seen some teleflex but not sure if compatible with the cable or would I need a whole new setup. thanks

You should be able to replace just the cable. That being said, some of the older systems are not supported anymore. You need to look on the steering hub, behind the steering wheel, and see if you can get a brand name and then see if you can find just the cable.

If you look in the right places you can sometimes buy a whole new steering system cheaper than just the cable itself.
