1982 evinrude

1982 4 hp evinrude would idlle but stalled when powered up was told leaking seals or head gasket. installed all new seals and gaskets was told rings and pistons were fine i have 70 psi in both pistons is this the right compression or should i have installed new rings haven,t fired it up yet but if compression is to low would new rings help

My all original salt-water 1979 High-hour 4HP puts out 110 PSI.

It should run on that 70PSI. Maybe check it with another gauge.

just checked it with another gauge both are sitting at 70 psi the same pressure before i put in new seals and gaskets i would like to know what the lowest psi is allowed and if 70 is ok
