Cleaned the carby and installed carby kit in my 4hp 1979 evinrude .Everything was going great until I tried to bolt carby back on only to discover that the stud in the intake manifold was stripped.I tried to unscew it from manifold(part 388941) with no success and was wondering if anyone knows how they are held in place? Are they pressed in or does the stud have a thread on both sides. It looks I will have to drill them out unless someone knows a better way?

i have a 77 4hp johnson with the same intake. it appears that the studs are not removable. they are an assembly with the the intake. it also appears they are no longer in stock.

They were part of the intake manifold and it's NLA. Try a machine shop. Should be an easy fix. Cut it off, drill it out and tap it for a new stud. You can get studs at parts houses.
