I have a 4 hp evinrude with a leaking fuel tap(part number 389701).An oring had been used to try and seal it by previous owner but it didn't work ,so I'm thinking that packing washers are used to seal the tap when it' unscrewed into the open position. If someone knows what is used to seal these fuel taps and where you can get it from it would be much appreciated.

I take this is an engine from 1979 or 1980

No separate parts are listed for an 0389701 fuel tap and no exploded diagram in the parts lists.

The valve itself is an obsolete part :(

I would have tried an O ring or O rings but perhaps the problem is finding the right size.

Check some lawnmower shops in your area as they may have something that will work.
