Can I remove steering cable without lifting motor off transom ? I don't think there is enough room to pull cable out . I was thinking drilling another hole to pull cable thru.

Some boats you can and some you can't. It might help to know what you have.

Still best to pull the motor off of the transom. Or, disconnect the cable from the motor and the helm. Then attach a rope to the transom end and pull the cable towards the helm. Attach the rope to the new cable and feed it back through.

Re: Steering cable

When I bought boat steering was frozen . I got it unstuck and kept turning wheel back and forth . Steers ok . There is a hole were cable comes threw but didn't want to lift motor off .

If you have to replace it, try it the way I said.
