I have a chance to buy this 100 hp Evinrude, 1972 model 100293R, would fit my boat nicely, had a 1974 115 Starflite before. I am told it runs nicely at all RPM's, even low idle, but starts hard occasionally. Barring no deception on the part of the owner and condition is as stated, would this motor be worth the asking price of $1,200, or is there somewhere I can find the realistic value of this motor? Most pricing sources I've found only go back to 1980 at best.

Way over priced.----More like a $400 item.------If you can not do your own work than check with your local shop and see what they think of this model.

Thank you for the responses! That was sort of my feeling, felt high for that old. If it runs good and seller will come down in price (significantly) I'll go from there. Thanks
