Oil in shift solenoid housing 1971 johnson 125

When motor is operating properly and fluid levels are correct, should there be oil in the shift solenoid housing in the gearcase.1971 125 j0hnson hydro-electric shift.

Yes there is oil in there .--------Any issues with this unit ???

Yes, as we talked about a no shift problem a couple of days ago, and decided the plunger was not operating as it should, purchased a new oil pump at a discount and decided to replace the pump since i was dismantling and after inspecting shift solenoid housing noticed a rubber seal partially blocking the lever hole where solenoid plunger seats. Thought the valve housing seal was not in there properly so ordered another.

You will be needing Bombardier Premium Blend oil for that lower unit. It's only for those electric shift gearcases.
