I have a 2000 Johnson 150 and have been told that I have a fuel injector rather than an electric choke solenoid like my 1986 Mercury had. How do I verify that the electric injector/choke is working? The motor has a manual choke that works well during the starting process but I am not sure if the electric injector/choke is working properly.

Your motor has a system similar to your Merc fuel enrichener. The Johnny has a solenoid that when energized allows raw fuel to run into the intake manifolds. That is the only "choke" you have.

The primer is an electric valve.---When key is pushed in it sprays fuel into the intake manifold.-------It only sprays fuel when there is pressure between the fuel pump and carburetors.------That pressure comes from the manual fuel pump on the hose.---Also when the engine is cranking from the motor fuel pump.--------That primer assembly can be operated mamually with the red lever.
