I'm looking for an older engine for my '16 foot center console I just got. I've found two engines on craigslist that appear to be early 70's models. I'm unsure of the serial numbers because I haven't gone to look at them yet. What I'm wondering is when they went from points and condenser to electronic ignition with power packs on these 3 cylinder engines. If it help, both engines are cable shift, and not the hydro-electric gearcase. Thanks!

The 3 cylinder motors 68 to 72 models had points and after 73 there were no more points on them.------No points in any hydro-mechanical shift models.

Ok, cool. Do you know when they stopped making the hydro-mechanical shift models?
