1978 85 hp evinrude exhaust question!!!!!!!!!!

before to fired it up i did a compression test on it because the last owner told me that it had more than 8 years w/o running and i have
1-135
2-133
3-135
4-130
so i cleaned the carburetors put em back together, cleaned spark plugs so i fired it up and a lot of smoke got out of the exhaust so now my question is i notice some kind of gray looking mixture liquid and smells like unburned gas/oil mix and i had it running at my yard and now all the grass around is dead, thats normal having tha mixture coming out of the exhaust, cus also i hve a 1973 115 hp evinrude and that one doest do that!!!!!!!

It's normal after sitting for 8 years. Take it to the lake and run the heck out of it and then check it.

Quite normal for that sludge.------Check thermostat on it.-------And believe it or not your 73 115 does the same thing if you let it idle on a hose for a long time !

u said check the termostat and that will be for wat reason?

If thermostat is not working engine could be running cold and that should give you excess sludge.
