I have several projects going on with my boat currently. Last season my battery was not charging well so I am looking into it. I checked the stator wires and the resistance on the yellow/gray and yellow wires was 1.5 ohms. Requirement is .7 +/- 0.05. Boat ran ok otherwise. This is a CDI stator that is on there because of a troubleshooting mistake. Battery had low charge and I got amp reading of 3.5 amps at 1200 rpm (low?). Put my old stator back on and had .7 ohms between yellow/yellowgray wires and charging at 5 amps 1200 rpm. I did not do any of the cranking voltage tests because ignition portion seems to be working properly. Using DVOM got the following readings to ground at the terminal strip. Red 12.5 volts, Gray 9 to 10 volts, both orange wires 20-25 volts, yellow gray did not record, yellow 13.75 volts. Can you give me any feedback on these readings or recommendations for better testing. Thanks.
