That's exactly what I do. Eliminates a potential leak point. Completely remove the hose barb in the lower cowling. If you have a fuel connector on the engine end of the fuel hose, remove it also. Run the fuel hose end thru that hole in the cowling-direct to the hose barb on the fuel pump. Clamp it in place. (Make sure the incoming hose bends in a large loop, so that it does not kink and restrict fuel flow.) Normal fuel hose will kink if bent in a tight radius.
