Shift Rod Distance on Johnson 40 HP (1990)?

Anyone happen to know what the correct distance is for setting the shift rod on a '90 40HP Johnson (J40EESR)?
Also, which gear it is supposed to be set in during setting up the distance...

It is --------21and15/16 inches ----In nuetral.----Easy to find using google.-Sorry, you will have to convert that to metric.

However, since I am in Sweden, Google often prioritizes searches from within this country... Have to check my settings!
