No Power trim & tilt for 1972 65 hp Johnson

I have a 1972 Johnson 65 HP. I guess there were no Power Tilt and Trim for these motors. I know there are aftermarket ones. but I read about an old style tilt and trim that was aftermarket on one of these boat sites. can't remember which site. Memory is not what it used to be. Does anyone know anything about these old T&T. Would one fit my motor. Who made them and what were they called. Where could I find one

Not yet I know there are new aftermarket ones. I am trying to find information on the older one maybe from the 60's I believe. I just can't remember what site I saw it on.

Power tilt was available from factory back then.----Trim and tilt was first offered for the 73 models including the 65 HP long shaft.---------If you can find a good used one you might be able to fit one on a 72 model.----Note , this would depend on how much time you have to fit one.-Results may vary.

I have been looking for a 73 but from what I have been told at several boat junk yards and a dealer The 73 is totally different. Anyway I haven't found a 73 so I could try to modify it.

They are somewhat rare.----A lot depends on your locale too.----------In some areas the dealer may have sold lots with trim / tilt and other areas they are rare.-------------These motors are long gone in saltwater areas too.

The '73 won't work on your '72 as the mounting brackets on the transom were different between the years.

Also, the 73 and later swivel bracket has holes drilled in it to accept the lift bracket (for the trim pistons.)

Best bet would still be after market if you want trim. You might find a tilt only unit someplace.
