Does any one know if there is a factory pipe plug already taped in the engine block to install a water pressure gauge? If so where is it located, I have looked but I got a feeling if its there its hiding in plain site?

my motor is a 1996 115 Johnson faststrike, 60 degree v4.

If drilling and taping my own hole is required, is it better to do it upstream of the thermostats or down stream. Thanks

There's a plug on either cylinder head. Check shop.evinrude.com and look up your motor for cylinder and crankcase.

There is already a fitting there on the engine.. You can attach the water pressure gauge in place of the telltale, using the telltale hose barb to feed the gauge hose.

I thought this was a 60* V-4, not a cross flow. The pisser comes straight out the back and they put plugs in the CYL heads just for a water pressure gauge.

You are correct, it's a 60 degree.
