If my motor is too high on the transom, can I use a jack plate for a 1976 Evinrude tiller handle motor? Or cut the transom down?

Re: jack plate?

You can do either which ever is the easiest for you. Just remember if you have a short shaft mtr now you may want to up grade to a long shaft mtr some day.

YEah meant longshaft,
i reckon around here that there are many more shortshafts out there than long shafts to buy

Re: jack plate?

In the nonrepair outboard section the OP posted a couple threads all with the same problem. Basically his antivent plate is above the bottom of his hull by .5-.75 of an inch and thinks its killing his performance. I have asked for more info and am awaiting an answer

This thread should get everyone on the same page

For the sake of simplicity I have disreguarded this one but he has three threads in the nonrepair section.
