1996 Evinrude ELAN 35hp 3 Cyl.
I just replaced the forward (remote) control cables for gear & acceleration.
Now when I shift the control all the way forward, I can only get the outboard rpm up enough to get the craft up to around 1/3 (7.5mph) of it's usual speed of about 22mph.
I assume that I need to adjust the threaded tip (at the motor end) to allow the cable to push out the acceleration to it's full potential. Is this what I should be doing?
Also, what idle rpm should I be sitting at and what rpm should I allow the outboard to get to at top acceleration?
Many thanks.
Jim
