92 Evinrude 48hp SPL prop shaft

Now that I have the bearing housing out of the gear case. The thing was so stuck it was very hard to get, but with some heat it came out. Now there is some much crud down in the housing it looks like the only way to clean it up is to remove the prop shaft. My book does not cover that only the seal replacement. How do I get the prop shaft out? I really don't want to pull it but it needs some serious cleaning.

To get the prop shaft out you'll have to disassemble the lower unit. You need an OEM factory service manual. OR. Get a good pressure washer and clean it all out. Then blow it out with compressed air and dump about 2 quarts of ATF in it.

Ok Thanks... I think I will try cleaning first.
