I was rebuilding my carburetors yesterday got it all put together. Then a spring pops off and I have no idea how to connects it back on. It connects to the lower Carburetor close to the throttle roller. The spring attaches both linkages some-how.DSCF2807.jpgDSCF2803.jpgDSCF2806.jpg

That is the spring in question, and my Carburetor links.
The spring manages how much airflow gets through my carburetors.
My outboard is an Johnson 50 horse 1982.

The spring goes on the chokes. It closes them, but allows suction to partially open them when the motor starts. Sorry, I don't have a picture.

It attaches to the lower butterfly control arm, and it faces the way you have it. The centre shaft of the butterfly control rod goes through the middle of the spring loop

The small end goes down and wraps around the shaft thats below it. As the butterflys are opened the long end of the spring comes down against the front choke mechanism and thus keeps the tension on it

The long end will point forward and hang in mid air until the throttles are opened up far enough under throttle

Does anyone know what the spring in this thread is called? - I need to order one or I may never get to go fishing again!
