I'm having a problem with my starter. the bindix will not go up and engage the fly wheel. I have taken it apart and put new springs and brushes in it. both of my boat batteries are fully charged. Thank you for your help.
good morning steveib can you hear the starter spin or not. if starter spins then bendix is bad. some of the guys say connect jumper cable positive directly to starter stud positive and jumper cable negative directly to starter ground ground conn could be corroided be careful with sparks around fuel. good luck.
try spraying it with wd-40 or something working it up and down it may not be dropping all the way down on starter shaft to re-engage if it will turn both ways by hand it is worn out or not re-engaging with shaft. let us know what you find.
