Hello,
Was helping out a friend who has an 11' BW with a '97 Johnson 25 Hp (J25RECB).
He wants to add an all around (running/bow) light on top of the engine cover but doesn't want to carry around a battery.

He'll only be running the lights, possibly LEDs, ON/OFF switch and fuse.

Was wondering if this is possible to get 12V from the engine?

*Engine is manual start & tiller drive.

Probably. But it would most likely require some parts too expensive to even think about, unless you can find used ones. Some models (but not yours) came with AC lighting. Seems they were almost standard in Europe??? The lighting option requires a stator and different flywheel.

.... but doesn't want to carry around a battery.

Look at AGM batteries. You can find ones that are quite light, not nearly as large as a starting battery, and they last a LONG time.

12 volt isn't practical .
There are "portable" led navigation lights. You would have to rig a mount.

You could also rig up a solar battery charger.
