The rubber boot on my motors kill switch has perished and fallen apart (1962 28hp seahorse). The parts list states that it?s obsolete so what I would like to know is it possible to get something else that I could use possibly from a more recent motor. Also is water spraying onto the uncovered switch a potential problem or is the switch water tight?

Re: Kill switch cover

seadog makes a nice and well priced kill/mob switch which could replace yours. yes the switch will have a shorter life without the rubber boot. there are other cheap methods to replace your switch, any good marine store will have a selection of rubber insulated generic toggle, push / pull switches used on marine consoles, operating stations etc.

Yeah I think I might replace the original switch with a new switch in the front of the boat by the throttle controls. It’s probably safer having the kill switch and throttle controls close to each other.
