1989 Evinrude 155hp NEED HELP

I know this is a simple fix, but I'm stuck....I just got a 1989 Evinrude 155hp...The problem that I'm having the motor will not turn connected or disconnect from the steering rods...My question would be is there a lock on the motor that prevents the motor from turning while on the road....

You've got a commercial engine. Those have a lot of differences when compared to a regular consumer 150 engine. Having said that, I'm not aware of any lock type device which would prevent the engine from freely moving from side to side.

Get out a grease gun and the PB Blaster. Grease the pivot tube and spray the upper part of the tube with the Blaster. Then push on the mtr both ways.
