Does my 1964 Johnson 18 hp need a fuel pump

I just got this motor, and don't know much about it. Pulled the carb and am rebuilding it now. In looking for parts I noticed there is no listing for a fuel pump on this motor, but there is one installed. Does it need this or was this some type of conversion? This motor has been sitting for a while and may need more help. Thank

1964 OMC outboards used fuel pumps.

As JB mentioned your motor uses a fuel pump.
It is item 6 on the part diagram: Johnson Powerhead Group Parts for 1964 18hp FD-18 Outboard Motor

Fuel pumps became standard for 1960 on the 18. Prior to that they used a dual line pressure tank, and the fuel pump was an option as part of an on-boat fixed tank kit from OMC.
