1998 Johnson 115 hp plug gap to run better at low speeds

'98 johnson 115 hp has always run poorly since bran new at low speed, often conking out while trying to dock. Could changing the spark plug gap from .030 help?

Id say adjusting your needle valves out a bit would help better

Do a good sync and link on it and see what happens.

It tells all about it in a factory service manual. I can't type that long to go through the procedure. It has to do with getting your carbs and ignition in sync.
